Business Growth

One of the key routes out of a recession is through business growth. Something which is often

difficult to find amongst large and multinational corporates as they react to reducing demand by cutting costs and issuing redundancies.

Two main problems arise out of the search for growth.

Firstly, many people made redundant are the most expensive to employ, as salary reductions in senior executives have the greatest immediate impact on the need for cost reduction.

Secondly, the focus for growth shifts to the Small and Medium Enterprise sector (SME). These are faster moving businesses with lower overheads, but often with very small profit margins. Companies which have goods and services to offer at an affordable price, but which don’t have the available cash to pay senior executive salaries. Salaries for those same currently unemployed senior executives who have the experience to help a company through the minefield of business growth.

We’ve studied this situation for some time, and have come to one powerful conclusion: Portfolio Management. By helping unemployed highly experienced people to build a portfolio of part-time senior executive positions in SMEs, we ensure that this talent pool is not wasted, and the SMEs can access the experience they need at an affordable remuneration.

A laugh a day keeps the doctor away!

As a mother and grandmother, I notice that children smile and laugh so much more than adults.  What happens between then and now that makes us laugh so much less than we used to?  What and who make you laugh?  And can you remember a time when you tried your hardest NOT to laugh and then just couldn’t stop!  It usually happened to me in either school or church!
Did you know that as you smile and laugh you release wonderful neurochemicals that bathe the whole of your body in feel-good feelings?  As you smile, you release serotonin.  Serotonin is the happy hormone.  Laughter releases endorphins, your own supply of endogenous morphines – that’s internal morphine to thee and me –  free drugs, and with no unwanted side-effects!
Smiling and laughter are their own rewards, boosting your immune system by up to 40%. Laughter increases levels of interferon-gamma, which help your body fight illness.  And it increases the number and activity of natural killer cells and activated T cells that attack viruses and some cancer cells.  Laughter is a well-known antidote to stress.  It lowers levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. Professor William Fry of Stanford University, and Norman Cousins of University of California and Los Angeles, also found that laughter improves your brain function, enhances learning, and enhances creativity and problem solving.  Laughter boosts your resilience and well-being, and even provides a heart workout, supplies the lungs with oxygen, acts like a massage for your abdominal organs, tones your intestines, aids your digestion and  strengthens your tummy muscles!
So what are you waiting for!  Go and do something silly, or try not to laugh at some of your daftest memories, or go and watch your favourite comedian or comedy show, and give yourself  a laughter fix!  Keep smiling, keep shining, and keep on keepin’ on living your one wild and precious life!
Until next time – here’s to your happiness and success!

The 3 R’s

With life returning to school and working life, I thought we should look at the 3R ‘s of fitness and Sporting and Occupational injury recovery.

Revitalised

We all have goals and things we want to gain and every one should change their training routine every six weeks to stimulate, body and mind to gain and maintain good muscular and cardiovascular ability. When you are injury free your enthusiasm will kick back into activities with endorphins (bodies feel good factor) released to help in the autumn time when your body might be thinking about hibernation.  The SAD syndrome will be kept to a low and you will walk through the winter months.

Recover and Relief

“ Every body will have a injury some time in their lives”.  Today could be your day! Ruptures of muscles need attention quickly to prevent problems getting worst. Working with the BIONEURO Therapy System from Biosysco. Helping people of all ages to a quicker recovery   from debilitating injury . “  using this therapy system combined with Sports Massage,I’ve seen very positive results.
